We have still not reached an agreement and will still be on strike when schools begin on Tuesday September 5th.
Our CEO has decided that apparently teachers are not necessary and schools will open tomorrow without teachers in the classrooms! The classes will be "managed" by administrators, office staff, custodians, etc.
I am wondering if they are certified and highly qualified as I am required to be??

Hi Karen:
I do know where Columbia. Isn't that where Mule Day is? You know back in March when they were discussing terrorist hit spots, Columbia was one. Anyway, your picture is fine and I would hate to think that school might start without the teachers. I hope that the strike gets settled. In Tennessee, we can have a contract but we cannot strike. Great to get to know you. Dianne
Dianne,
I am surprised that you know Columbia! Mule Day is a huge event.
Detroit teachers are not allowed to strike either. We are calling it a work stoppage, rather than a strike, but we all know what it is! The district has gone to court to try to force the teachers back to work. Rather than an injunction to send us to our classrooms, the judge has ordered round the clock negotiating sessions.
I am hopeful we will be back to work soon.
Karen,
Qualified administrators? Where? Maybe they were, years ago, but with the changes in educational theories, I find it difficult to stay on top of things. (Good to see you again)
David
Hi Karen!
Most probably administrators, office staff and custodians will find something to keep the childrens busy, but this instruction time is not easily recoverable. Hope the stoppage ends soon, and you can get back to work!
