Feeling Disconnected

Our server crashed at school today...and some of the files in the OS were whacked when I got it back up. I had to call the help desk, they sent out a tech who siad "Oh, your server crashed, I can fix this real quick." After about half an hour he decided that some of the files were corrupted and he needed to reload the OS. Of course, even though I told the help desk that the OS had to be reloaded, he did not have the disk. So, maybe Monday afternoon sometime I will be reconnected. I went through some major withdrawal today. I was ready to check my email on my cell phone...Iam glad to be home and connected once again!

Karen,

Oh brother, you have my sympathy, some seem to think I am glued to my computer since I am always on it. I forgot that one day this week I did chat with you via your cell phone text since your computer was done. In any event, its hard when you experience system problems because you feel like your whole life is connected to the system. I am still considering buying one of those cell phone computers since I travel a lot with my job. A lot of the places I travel to, do not have the network capabilities that I need to either teach my Sylvan classes online or to do my own classwork online. Hopefully, next week things will go much smoother for you. I am not a techie or hardware person so I had to ask my sister what OS was and she told me operating system. I still remember my master's degree program where we discussed that sometimes in technology, nursing, business, or any professsion, we use lingo that is common knowledge in our own world but not to outsiders. Thus, they always encouraged us to write for "dummies" or for those of us that are on the outside looking in. I think most of the time, I just have brain cramps where I forget stuff, I felt like duh... when she told me what it stood for (smile).

Have a great weekend and a much better week!!!

Gee ... wow ... oh-my-gosh ... been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Technology is one of those things that when it's up, it's good, but when it's down ... there's just not much you can do. And, I've been through the technology withdrawls ... sometimes you just need a quick fix ... a dsl connection. We have all become so dependant on technology ... and that's the crux of the matter. Sometimes we forget how to write a letter ... we rather email.

Write?? Using paper and pencil?? My handwriting is practically illegible! Technology has saved me once again!
