Week 10 Reflection

I have been having difficulty focusing this week due to lots of medication. I think that I am finally getting used to it and can work a bit better. I am so glad to not be in pain! I told my principal that I did not know how bad I felt until I felt better!

Learning objects has been an interesting topic. They are essential to online courses. Learning objects are used because they increase learners' interest and motivation, as they imply interactivity based on sound, image and text.

I have been busy with MSN this week also. I have spent time talking with David, and Nia, and Dianne. I shared some files with Yolanda this week or last, and David and I experimented with the whiteboard features.

Hey Karen:

I did understand LOs much better than last weeks lesson. It was so easy when it was compared to a library and books.

I hope that you get to feeling better. Dianne

When I was in the military, I built learning objects using Authorware and Toolbook ... not the most user friendly, let me tell you. And now, thankfully, Flash will build a SCORM compliant Learning Object. They have the greatest potential to make online learning so dynamic and engaging. But, I don't know how to make the building of LO's easy ... if they are easier to build, then, more will be built.

Karen,

I am glad that you all have been making note of the chatting and MSN messenging because I thought all this time as I told David, that it was archiving them. So I had to do some homework and learned that I had to set my tools so that it would archive the chats. But then I learned that it only archives on that certain computer, I don't think you can pull it from other computers. When I tried to pull the archived history it said no archives saved on this computer. But I did pick David's brain as to why I did not have them archived and he told me that I had to set the settings under tools so I used the MSN Messenger Help to go and learn how to do that.

Karen, I am glad to hear you are getting better from your pain! As for the LOs, I agree that it is an interesting topic; still to be defined clearly and parameters set for their construction, but anyway, they are important products for the online creation of learning environments. LOs will facilitate and/or simplify a lot the creation of good constructivist environments by making the right combination of them. Regards!
